Checked the reviews on 6.1 upgrade. And, I checked tutorial on how to upgrade. My question is: is the Q9c more vulnerable to problems when upgrading from 6 to 6.1? Specifically, I have read about problems "syncing" with Vista and I guess that would apply to Win 7 too huh? Anyone? Thanks G.902586

I have a Q9m that I upgraded to 6.1, after which it started showing up as a Q9c. I've never experienced any syncing problems, and I don't really think that there would be very much difference between a Q9c and a Q9m posing as a Q9c. My advice is go for the upgrade. It's well worth it.

I just did the upgrade a couple days ago. The threaded text messages alone I think are worth the upgrade. Just use RSD Lite if you get the warranty message from Motorola...

Moderator Siacono has posted links to some ROM's here. You can find some ROMs at HellomotoQ as well.

I went to WM 6.1 on my Q9C. Works like a champ! I used the official installer from Motorola's site.

On WM 6.1 on Q9c, every time I connect to Mobium GPS, I get an annoying pop up stating that Bluetooth tried to turn on, and then it tells me to make sure blue tooth is on.

Pop your battery and check the back of the phone... it should have the phone's ID tag, which is located below the battery. The tag will include the phone's model number, as well as its serial number.

@GSKILLET: did you try it yet? I just got a replacement phone because mine broke and it only comes with WM 6. I tried using the Motorola Service Update, but the phone is out of warranty. So then I tried the thing from HowardForums, using RSD Lite 4.6 and a Sprint Monster ROM flash, and it failed to flash. Luckily, the phone is still fine. But I had WM 6.1 on my old one and I'm really missing the threaded text messaging. If you get yours to work, please let me know. 4chsmu1

when i upgraded to this phone (Q9c) on Sprint it came with WM6.1 out of the box. I'm not sure if Sprint has some special proprietary version that works with it out of the box, but in the year or so I've had this phone I haven't had any significant issues, other than a couple times it locked up to the point of needing a master reset. (Thank goodness for Microsoft MyPhone!)

I would think there'd be minimal issue in upgrading your Q9c to 6.1, but I cannot say for certain as I never had to upgrade mine.

Hope that helps.
