Is anyone interested in comparing notes on the carrier, plan, services and costs for our mobile comm.?

I know the coverage of different carriers is quite varied from place to place, so it will never be an even comparison, but it might help a few of us identify where our carrier is "boiling the frog", or where there is an opportunity to save money.

(that is a old insurance term for slowly raising rates on established customers. It seems that if you put a frog in a pot of boiling water, it will jump out, but if you put it in cool water and turn up the heat, it will stay in the water happily as it slowly boils to death.)

Also, it might be good to see if your plan/rate differs from what MyRatePlan.com indicates.

If you want to participate, be sure to include all the pertinent data:
carrier
base rate/mo. Don't include state or local taxes, or fees.
contract length (1 year, 2 years) or mo. to mo.
single, family or company/group plan?
voice minutes
free night and weekends
in-system calls free
long distance premium if any
any text, picture or data included
up-charge for "GPS" service
We know where everyone is from your sig., but include a city/state anyway.

Mine is:
Carrier: Verizon
Rate: 39.95/mo.
Contract: mo/mo
Voice: 450
Nights/Weekends: Yes
In-System: Yes
Long Distance premium: No
Text/Pic/Data: None
GPS: $9.99 (not paying it)
City/St.: Los Angeles, CA

I have the unlimited plan because my phone is used for my business as well... I opted for the $99 dollar unlimited talk, text, and pics with the $29.99 unlimited data plan. Oh yeah lets not forget Verizon's surcharges, the states fees, and your insurance. 232259

The state and local fees vary from place to place, and really can't be blamed on the carrier.

The insurance is voluntary but I agree it would be good to compare that cost as well.
... and how much are you paying for Simply Everything?

(simply everything?)

Ok, so your plan is a "fable" that rode off into the sunset. I'm happy for you that you hitched your wagon to a great deal. Ride it for all it's worth.

Understand that before we got these plans(the wife and I) We tried going with verizon for about a year then with T-Mobile for about 45 days Lol then with AT&T for about 2 years and finally with Nextel and we kept those plans for almost 2 years so we had been around the block and boiled a lot of frogs before that day. I can say from our experiences, and keep in mind that when we were dealing with the other companies it was many years ago and things change, they may be better now but it seemed to us that Sprint was most importantly very honest with charging us versus what we got and then they had the fairest price for the specific services we needed or cared about. Nextel was decent but we did have a few surprises even though Sprint/Nextel are the same company, they handle things very differently. But I have to say all the other companies were all about trying to get you with hidden charges and thats what pissed us off the most. We would have gladly paid more for something that we knew was going to be more straightforward and forthcoming with us. The thing with T-mobile was just bad because we bought them out of town and when we got home they didnt even work in our hometown. Lol That was before anyone around us even heard of T-Mobile though. We took a chance. Im sure they are much better by now.
